7 Weeks and Counting!

I'm officially in the third trimester! HOME STRETCH!! Am I sick of being pregnant? Maybe...a little...But I wouldn't trade it for the world! Well, except maybe actually holding my baby. That would be a good trade-off and it's and inevitable one at that. I completely regret ignoring all the advice about how horrible the last 3 months are. Mind you, I did not have even an ounce of morning sickness or any other "common" symptom, so i thought I was one of the lucky ones escaping with a fairly easy pregnancy...Well...HELLO 28th WEEK!!! I can't explain the exhaustion that has overcome my being. Nor can I explain this stabbing pain in the left side of my middle back...sciatica....swelling.....pelvic symphosis ( or something like that)....EXTREMELY itchy belly....and some other not-so-public "things"....OH! Did I mention Braxton Hicks?? What's that, you ask? Well, apparently your body needs to "practice" for labor. It needs to "learn" how to produce contractions. So, there are these lovely little pains (and by pains i mean pains in the arse!) called Braxton Hicks (BH) contractions. They are not painful, just uncomfortable. I can't walk a block or climb a flight of stairs without my uterus tightening up and threatening me to expel my child from within! Seriously!!

And speaking of expelling! This little alien-child feels like it wants to squeeze itself through my belly button!! Oh, is that what that is? That ugly brown blob/indentation somewhere in the middle of my abdomen? Yep...my once perfect innie is now a stretchy....Hey, at least it gets cleaned now...That's a good thing right? But, back to my alien baby! Sometimes I swear my stomach is going to explode with all the weird things he does in there! Stretching, kicking, bouncing, twisting! You name it he does it! He is actually able to stick his hands into my hip bones?? And forget wearing my pants closed! Little Booger goes right to where the bottom is and pushes OUT! Like "Yo! MA!!! I got your button mark on mah forehead!! Do ya MIND releasing mah brain??" I guess it's getting kinda tight in there, huh? Well, 7 more weeks (hopefully LESS) and he'll have so much space to stretch, he'll be screaming to be swaddled!

Labor and Delivery: FAIL

I hope everyone's New Year's was amazing!! So, little Landon Alexander decided to give mommy and daddy a scare on the first day of the year. Yep, 1/1/2011, saw us in the P.E.T Unit in Saint Barnabas Hospital. I was leaking and feeling contractions since New Year's Eve but on New Year's morning, I was still contracting and leaking. So, off to the hospital we went to make sure I wasn't leaking amniotic fluid. I got there and went straight up to the 3rd floor. They gave me my beautiful gown and hooked me up to baby monitors. I got to hear his heartbeat for 30 minutes, so that was awesome! Got swabbed and checked and nothing is wrong. Contractions are apparently normal now. As long as they don't get stronger and more frequent I'm fine! And extra discharge is ok, too. So, an hour later, mommy and daddy were back home. Yep, I'm birthing quite the funny man....takes after his father. So, false alarm 1 has been recorded! Hopefully we won't get another alarm for another 6-10 weeks. Needless to say, I felt like a jackass. But, better safe than sorry!
