8 Pounds in 4 WEEKS??? WTF???
I ALWAYS look forward to my doctor appointments. These mean I get to see my peanut, find out how I'm progressing, and continue my countdown for another 4 weeks to do it all over again. Going to the doctor means I am 4 weeks closer to meeting this little tiny boy that will make his way out of my..you know...and will be known to all as my son. But, today was not a happy doctor's appointment. Today I did my Gestational Diabetes test (results still unknown, update on that later). The orange drink they give you is actually not that bad!! Its tastes like a sweeter Gatorade! You gotta chug it in 5 minutes then sit there for an hour and the nurse will draw your blood. This will measure my sugar levels and blah blah blah. After the small talk about the nurse being frustrated that the lab stopped making the smaller needles she likes and now has to get used to the longer ones since its easier to prick her fingers (and who wants a bloody-fingered nurse taking your blood, right??) she tells me to get on the scale. Throughout this whole pregnancy I have not once worried about weight gain. I had gained up to 8 lbs since the beginning, so I was right on track. So I step on, and WHOA!!! 8 POUNDS IN 4 WEEKS!!! That's definitely NOT OK...Then, of course, my pee decides to act up and make the testy strips all ugly looking...Oh, surprise! You have an infection! Yeh...tell me something I don't know lady!! Apparently this time it's a tad more serious...If not treated it can cause preterm labor and the baby can get really sick....Back on medication I go....Doctor felt bad and said he won't yell at me this time for the wight gain. "Everyone has a bad month...and this looks like it's yours." I love my doctor. Not the best doctor's appointment...but at least my peanut is good! Growing so much!! I saw his feet and his tiny hands! He moved when the doctor pressed down with the ultrasound wand...I love my little munchkin....Hopefully my GD test will be ok and I won't have to worry about a 10 pound baby or anything else until he gets here. Now, nest week is Thanksgiving!! Yummy food!!! Not so cool when you can't enjoy it....Darn holidays!! YOU MAKE ME SO FAT WITH YOUR MEALS!!!!
